500ml bottle served into a generic glass in Zurich, Switzerland. Reviewed from notes taken Summer 2010.
A: Pours a 1.5 finger head of fair cream, good thickness, and average retention. Body colour is a dark nontransparent solid black.
Sm: Milk, vanilla, caramel, cream, caramelization, chocolate, and toffee. Hm. In a dunkel? That's a surprising amount of complexity.
T: Vanilla, milk, chocolate, toffee, and cream - all brilliantly balanced on the climax. Brilliant foundation with even some nutty notes and subtle floral hop presence on the fringe. Beautiful and brilliantly balanced. Incredibly well built for a dunkel, disguising its foundation cleverly in order to let the complexity come through.
Mf: Somewhat coarse and dry, perfectly complementing the flavours of the body just enough to coax out their full potential. Wow.
Dr: Incredibly creamy and drinkable, almost like a well built stout. Brilliant quality. I love this. A worthwhile beer to seek out for any beer lover.
