was surprised to see a stout on offer in india. it came out of the tap a thin looking milk chocolate color with a slight red radiance, too transparent for a stout i think. a small off white head rests on top. the smell is smokey and sweet, with a ton of english roasty malts dominating. flavor starts of with a big alcohol kick up front, followed by some smokey malts and residual sugar. a bit of chocolate in the taste, but it is minimal. the mouthfeel ruined this for me more than anything. it was way to slim in body for a stout, even watery in feel for a porter or a dark ale, the sweetness left a sticky feeling on the teeth, and there wasnt enough carbonation to keep it exciting. this was my least favorite brew at the biere club, as it was all over the map. hopefully still a work in progress.
