On tap at Phoenix Airport pizza restaurant. Brown, minimal head, very lazy carbonation. Slightly nutty, dark roast, mild sweetness, but also kind of bland.

Poured a clear amber body with no head to speak of. Overall impression of appearance is typical for the style, okay. Scents of toasted malt, moderate levels of caramel, light bready malt and a touch of citrusy hop aromas. Overall impression of flavor is of a typical Amber ale. Malt-forward with a touch hops, pleasant but simple. Flavor begins lightly sweet with a touch of toasted malt and caramel and a light hop presence that is mostly pine. Middle becomes drier, quite dry, with notes of toasted malt, floral hops and light sweetness from caramel. Finish is dry with notes of floral hops, toasted malt, burnt toast and a light fruity ester character with a cherry quality. Aftertaste is dry with notes of bready and toasted malt and bitter floral hops. Overall impression of flavor is of a malt-forward, but still dry Amber ale with a floral and herbal character to the hops rather than citrus which is pleasant. Not amazing, but solid. Mouthfeel is light bodied with medium-high carbonation and a smooth feel that finishes chalky. Overall impression of mouthfeel is of a nice session Amber, not bad. Overall this is a decent Amber ale. It lacks a bit in aroma, but has a fairly good flavor and a nice mouthfeel that aid the overall impression. Not hugely impressive, but that is the style as a whole.
