Poured a semi-clear brown body with a one finger off-white head. Fairly true to form for the style. Scents of nutmeg, cinnamon, allspice, candied fruit, fruitcake, raisin, sweet bready malt and light brown sugar and molasses. Overall impression of aroma is of a very sweet, spicy beer that captures the character of the classic Christmas sweets. Quite nice. Flavor begins sweet with notes of cinnamon, raisin, nutmeg, allspice and candied fruit, particularly cherry and brown sugar and fruitcake. Middle is slightly drier with notes of sweet spices, same as before, alongside candied fruit and dark fruit, especially cherry and raisin. Finish is medium-dry with notes of sweet spices, nutmeg, cinnamon, apple, raisin and candied fruit in the background. Aftertaste is sweet spices and grainy malt. Overall impression of flavor is of a sweet ale that ends somewhat dry and imparts a nice spicy flavor and sweetness matching nice Holiday classics. Mouthfeel is medium-light bodied with light carbonation and a smooth, drying feel. Overall impression of mouthfeel is of a light, yet filling Christmas ale. Quite nice. Overall this is an excellent Christmas ale. It is spicy, sweet yet not cloying and very nice. A good example of a spices Holiday ale and quite the treat.
