Sample from bottle, RBNG 2014 in Halden, Grand Tasting. Black colour. Very roasty aroma and flavour. The flavour has also notes of maple syrup and spruce.

Sinebrychoff/Brooklyn collaboration. So-named because it was ostensibly brewed with both spruce and maple.
BOTTLE served into a Dogfish Head style buttplug glass at Bierstube in Kuopio, Finland. Reviewed from notes taken June 2015.
HEAD: 2.5 fingers wide. Great shining complexion. Khaki-tan head. Fluffy. Not real creamy or soft. Should be more robust and less airy/thin. Retention is great - ~7+ minutes. Leaves no lacing on the sides of the glass as it recedes.
BODY: Opaque black. No yeast or sediment is visible within. Looks good for an imperial porter. Spot-on for the style.
AROMA: Cream, chocolate, hints of coffee roast, roasted barley, dark malts, schwarz malts, chocolate malts, lactose sugar, malt syrup, and yes, faint spruce when I look for it - but no maple or maple syrup.
Sweetness seems apt, and the dominant chocolate is appealing. But it doesn't deliver on the premise; there's no obvious harmony of potent spruce and maple as promised.
Aromatic intensity is average. Suggests a complex porter with stunning balance. I look forward to trying it.
TASTE: The dark malt & chocolate malt core is basic, and needs roasted barley to complement it desperately. There is some coffee-like bitterness as well as some ashiness, which helps tame the sweetness. I find no cream, milk chocolate, etc. I'd peg the yeast for lager yeast as well - judging by the complex esters - or at least for baltic porter-esque cool-fermented ale yeast.
I don't find the purported maple syrup but there is some subtle/muted spruce throughout, with hints of supplementary sappy hops. No booze or off-notes come through.
The balance isn't dialed in and it's only moderately complex for a porter, lacking the nuance and intricacy of superior beers in the style. I do like it, but it could really use more depth of flavour.
TEXTURE: Ashy, somewhat coarse, and wet. Unrefreshing. Too light-bodied for the style. Somewhat thin and weak. Lacks the heft and weight needed to support its complex flavours. Not harmonious with the taste, but well-suited to it in a general way. Carbonation is near perfect.
Should be softer and creamier.
OVERALL: Highly drinkable, with a well-hidden ABV and a nice taste. There's ample room for improvement and it doesn't deliver on its maple/spruce "two tree" premise, but it's one of the best Finnish beers out there and is easily some of Sinebrychoff's finest work (along with Koff Porter). Well worth trying if in Finland.
