KOFF Porter (exported as Sinebrychoff Porter in some markets) is Sinebrychoff's oldest specialty beer. Sinebrychoff has been producing it continuously since 1957. The recipe has remained more or less the same from one decade to the next. KOFF Porter was developed by Sinebrychoff's brewmasters Nils Sandman and Boris Orlo and laboratory manager Aarne Rahiala. According to the story, the yeast for the production of porter was secretly brought from the British Isles in a test tube to the Hietalahti brewery. The yeast was stored for a long time in the brewery's own laboratory and only decades later was transferred to VTT's yeast bank in Espoo for treatment.
KOFF Porter is a dark beer made with surface yeast. It is made using special malts that give a strong flavor, as well as plenty of hops, which produce bitter substances and aroma. Surface yeast fermentation creates fruity aromas. The aroma of KOFF Porter is malt-like roasted and chocolatey, and it also has hints of coffee and liquorice. KOFF Porter is not filtered, but the yeast is separated by separation.

I’m not sure how old this beer is. I tried to peel off the sticker to see the BB date but it got erased.
It’s probably past the date.
Nice pour: dark brown color with a 2F head.
The aroma is weird: unlike any aroma from a beer I’ve tasted. Woody, caramel. Not bad, but not pleasant.
MF is medium smooth.
The taste mimics the aroma. I can’t define it. Not like the other Baltic porters I’ve tasted which have a more defined porter taste.
Overall: unusual, but just okay.

Black color. Thin, beige head. Aroma of roasted malt and chocolate. Rich, sweet taste with notes of chocolate and coffee. Full, creamy body. Mild, roasted bitterness at the end. Decent porter.

Koff is an established brewery with a fantastic array of brews. I really miss their lagers! But this porter, oh yeah baby!
It's tall, dark and handsome. It's rich and elegant. Some might want to marry it.
If I had to do a blind test, I would likely recognize it for it's richness reminiscent of a solid stout that is nicely balanced by its dryness which is so porter-like.
This Koff is nothing to sneeze at. Worthy!

This is my first beer from Finland. I randomly picked this one up on a quick trip to OEC a few weeks back even though I had never heard of the beer or brewery. However, I think all Baltic Porters are worth a gamble so it was a no brainer to give it a shot. Let's pop it open and find out what it's all about
Pours almost completely pitch black with a finger of creamy dark tan head that slowly fades to a ring and leaves minimal lacing
There's a sharpness in the nose more reminiscent of a RIS but I'm into it. I'm picking up on aromas of molasses, leafy hops, cherry pit, raisin, cacao nib, burnt caramel, brown sugar, black licorice, and the faintest hint of soy sauce
It's surprisingly much more gentle in taste, and there's almost certainly some age on this undated bottle. On the front end of the sip I'm tasting dark bread, black cherry, molasses, brown sugar, black tea, cocoa powder, light herbal hops, and toffee. The swallow brings notes of dark toast, burnt caramel, molasses, cherry pit, leafy hops, cocoa powder, light tobacco, and red grape
A medium body pairs with gentle tingling carbonation, resulting in a slick beer. Finishes truly neutral
This is a fun one. I wish I knew when it was bottled but it can't be too old

330ml bottle. I think the date coding is under a later affixed 'Jahrgang 1816' sticker.

Part of a gift. Drank from the undated bottle. Dark bakers chocolate smell, good mouth feel. Taste is a bit dry some chocolate and coffee? in the rear. Overall a good beer that just seems to be missing something. Is it old? Should I try the other bottle in a glass? Overall I enjoyed this but would not buy this beer unless I saw it on tap just to try that version.
I decided to pull the gold foil sticker off the bottom of the bottle. Surprise, best by 13 November 2020. FUCK YOU Shangys. There are other reasons I won’t buy beer from your shop and this is just another. How many other OLD beers are you putting stickers over dates. The sticker looked like it belonged till I really looked at it.

An excellent porter. Nice roasted malt, earthy wet skree (best way for me to describe the earthiness), dark bitter coffee, a bit dry with a medium mouthfeel. The way it should be.

Not sure about this one. There is a good maltiness to it, with medium carbonation but significant bitterness followed by a smoke/burned taste. It is not a bad taste, just not sure this all works together, feels like it does not blend together, kinda of clashes I think. Maybe I just didn't have a lot of porter lately.

One of the finest porters I think I've ever tasted, but that could have been just my mindset at the time. In any case, it's very good. Pours near black with a short (1/2") head that dissipates to a trace. The aroma is wonderful, I got loads of malts with notes of caramel, and a whiff of maybe smoked barley? The taste follows the aroma and it too is wonderful. In addition to the caramel I sense licorice and that smoke essence. The feel is more than I expected, just that good. This is definitely one I would be happy to have in the cellar on a regular basis. I sipped it slowly so as to savor the experience, so good.
