On draught at Bailey's, Munich 69 is a hazy blackish garnet with a bubbly tan head that leaves scattered, foamy lace.
Smell is big on the dark porter malts, coffee like, a little bit of sweetness, maraschino cherries perhaps. The acidity of the malt shines though in a bit of an unpleasant manner, and is not countered by any other particular character.
Taste is massive, huge charred, but not roasted, black malts. This is a very pure porter, cranked to 11. Yummy, I like the light sweetness that pikes through on the aftertaste, in spite of the acridness.
Mouthfeel is slick, medium bodied.
Drinkability is good, I'm really digging the assertiveness of the black malts they're bringing to the table, yet still maintaining some sweetness. Very nice, I want more, but no time, bummer. Otherwise, I'd drink these sillly...
