Served on-tap at NXNW into a 10oz snifter.
Pours an dark, seal brown body with a thin ring of custard head; minimal lacing. Body thins a bit at the edges, letting in hints of mahogany. Great aroma of powdered chocolate, fresh-brewed coffee, lactose, and a hint of bourbon barrel-aging.
Not much bourbon flavor, as the roast coffee and chocolate lay down complex layers of malt across the palate. Body is on the over-carbonated side and a bit thin for an Imperial Stout. Gets better as it warms, allowing the wooden aging character to pull through as the bubbliness subsides. Still, where are the hops? Where's the booziness? Where's the big, luxurous mouthfeel? Don't get me wrong, this is a good beer, but it could use some "oomph" in order to live up to its name and style.

NXNW: Imperial Stout made with Kona coffee. Served in a snifter. Poured black, with a small head. The bourbon sweetness is prevalent in the aroma. Quite nice. The head was brown and the lacing dithered about for awhile. Sweet and roasty, a typical impy stout sweetness mixed with some roasted coffee grounds. Smooth and lush mouthfeel. With the coffee and the bourbon this beer has a lot going on. It would be easy to screw up, but the beer was crafted well and the complexities are done in a pleasing and subtle way.
