Poured a lovely dark black with a huge tan head that reduces to a film lacing down the glass. Malt and toast on the tongue. A mix of coffee and chocolate. Creamy on the tongue. An excellent example.

It pours a very dark cola color with gorgeous red highlights. Huge, beige, Ricky head that slowly creeps down the glass leaving a trail of bubbles. Huge island remnant, eventually with a decent cap of light foam.
The smell is malt forward and bready. Quite roasty. There's some light coffee going know and a sweeter note of toffee. There's a tad bit of chocolate. Nothing of note on the hop front - no surprise for the style.
The grains lead the way here. It's bready and toasty - very prominent roast and toast on this one. It's bordering on being stout-like but not quite there. There's a bit of wheat tanginess. A little toffee sweetness. Mild coffee and a little chocolate round out the main flavors. Then there's an aromatic herbal flavor that floats in over the top that is very light licorice or fennel-like. Slight grain bitterness.
It's drinking bigger than it is. The roast and wheat contribute to that despite the pretty low ABV. It's medium bodied but a little creamy, so it feels "rich" to me. Well-carbonated but not enough to be a distraction.
This is about as straightforward as it gets. Easy drinking. Definitely fits the style definition.

Looks good and like what you'd expect from a dark lager.
Smell is reminds me of subtle French roast along with a little toffee sweetness. Definitely a good bit of grain on the nose.
The taste has alot of body and the grain comes through heavily in the aftertaste. As expected roasted notes are also present.
The feel is so what light but comes off stronger due to the roasted notes. There is a good amount of carbonation to this beer.
This beer is solid as expected from Oxbow. Not my favorite that I've tried so far but still very good and enjoyable. Maybe you will like this style more than me? Worth a try for sure.

On tap at Dominion wine & Beer. Pours black and clear with excellent lacing. Dark malt, crackers, minor sweetness in the aroma.
T - malty with little no sweetness with lots of herbal bitterness.
MF. - medium light body with a dry finish.
