Very Good
Notes: A farmhouse festbier featuring a malt body that is both dry and creamy with hints of smoke.

Had on tap. Somewhat hazy golden amber body with a very thin cap and lacing. Smell features the smoked caramel malt, with a hint of floral yeast, funk, and herbal hops. Taste does the smoke well, it is a star but doesn't ruin its accomplishes of flowers, caramel, grains, playful funk, and slight botanicals. Feel is smoky, malty, warm, and slightly wild. A strange beer that I actually thought was pretty good but don't know if I need to have again.

Interesting beer, very nice.
Chestnut color, small tan head.

Smoky malt, some caramel. A bit of spice.

Smoky caramel taste. Pumpkin pie spice. The flavors went well together.

Very malty, not like any Oktoberfest that I have tried.

A lot of fun to drink.

On-tap at Mugs Alehouse, Brooklyn, NY

A: The beer is hazy rosé to amber in color and has a light amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a thin ring of bubbles around the edge of the glass.
S: Moderate aromas of smoked malts are present in the nose.
T: Similar to the smell, the taste is quite smoky, but doesn't have any flavors of iodine or Band-Aid that you might expect to accompany the smoke.
M: It feels light- to medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This is more like a "lite" version of a Rauchbier than a saison. Nevertheless, it is easy to drink and might appeal to people who do not like the iodine and Band-Aid flavors normally associated with smoky beers.

On tap at Goods from the Woods 2014 with Festero. Not sure why they would confuse us with a name like oxtoberfest, Marzen this is not. Smokey light malty sweetness hints of floral spicy hops and a rustic earthy funk. Nice brew with a bit of a confounding moniker.

I picked up a growler of this beer yesterday afternoon. It was in a cooler on the ride home from Newcastle, and in my fridge since then. I've poured into an Oxbow tulip.

The beer is hazy and has orange and brown coloring. The head is almost non-existent, just a thin layer of tan foam that completely disappears after a bit. Maybe I'm serving it too cold?

It has the aroma of a malty saison; I can smell funky farmhouse yeast, but also sweet malts reminiscent of toffee. It comes across as a good mixture of a German lager and a farmhouse ale.

The beer has a good flavor. There are plenty of malts, both light sweet ones I'd expect to find in a saison, and also some deeper, darker ones more often found in a oktoberfest beer. There is a some light floral hopping and a good amount of yeast. It provides a slight bite of pepper just after a swallow. Toffee and caramel malts linger on.

The beer has a medium body and enough carbonation to provide some sharpness on my tongue.

This is another enjoyable Oxbow beer. I don't like it as much as some of their other offerings, but it is well made and an interesting combination of styles.
