750mL bottle acquired by my brother from the Garage Club. $15. Bottled 2/8/16. Served in a Monday Night snifter.
Pours a beautiful, clear orange hued chestnut with just under two fingers of ecrue head. The foam recedes to some wispy surface haze and a full band that deposits some attractive sheets of lacing.
Sweet, beckoning aromas of brandy, caramel, pears, prunes, plums, honey, wet oak and some fruity yeast esters. The aroma is lovely and I keep burying my nose in the snifter between sips to enjoy the fruity sweet bouquet.
Taste delivers on that nose and much more. Rich layers of brandy, plums, dates, pears, cherry skins, candy sugar, caramel, vanilla tinged oak, distinctive Belgian yeast, wet earth, faint brown sugar and a tickle of alcohol. There is so much fruity goodness working in harmony with all of the sugars and barrel aging. Outstanding.
Syrupy full feel with subtle carbonation. Brandy, fruity sugars and yeast make for a delicious, lingering aftertaste.
I enjoyed Monday Night's fourth anniversary Tie 4 On but this takes their quad to an entirely different and decadent place. Hands down my favorite release from them to-date, this Brandy Barrel Aged Belgian Quad is fantastic.
