500mL bottle picked up at the brewery. Released 11/2018. Served in a Monday Night snifter. Enjoyed 12/27/18.
Pours a deep chestnut with a tall cap of pale-but-dense tan froth. Between the full crown, surface layer and lacing there is a good bit of retention.
The maple syrup is right up front in the nose, followed closely by cooked pork fat and bourbon caramel. Other notes of coffee, cereal and wet wood round out an overall enjoyable aroma.
That maple remains dominant in the flavor. There’s also coffee, bourbon, cooked caramel, a meaty smoke character, grain and lightly charred barrel.
Creamy, smooth medium body with slight carbonation. The finish mixes coffee, maple and bourbon-tinged caramel.
Cool to see Monday Night having fun with their flagship. Maple Bacon Bourbon Drafty Kilt adds some great layers of flavor to the well known base.
