Loving Cup is a smooth, Hop Hut series 2X White Mocha Milkshake IPA that drinks like a latte. We hopped with Citra Cryo Hops and added in Ugandan vanilla beans, Ghirardelli white chocolate, and coffee for kicks. The result is strong notes of coffee and vanilla working together harmoniously to delight your taste buds. After one sip, you’ll be saying ‘pumpkin spice latte who?

Poured from a can bought straight from the brewery into a (Beer Advocate branded) Teku glass. Consumed three days after bottling (bottled on 01/13/21). Super frothy; if you pour quickly like me watch out for the swell.
Look; Great for it's style; a milkshake double hopped IPA with 'Ugandan Vanilla Beans, Ghirardelli White Chocolate, and Coffee' and looks exactly as it reads. Can't see through it worth a toot and it has a deep golden honey color with a tinge of brown. The head is frothy, thick, and sticks around for a minute; it kinda' resembles butter beer froth (for those who have had the pleasure).
Smell; I'm just getting over a cold so I'm not the best judge; the character of this beer comes through nonetheless. A creamy scent and nose feel underpin the whole aromatic experience, with notes of fruit and white chocolate dancing above. Not cloyingly, the scent of alcohol does come through for me ever so often. And to my nose, a highly present smell that was hard to put my finger on is the interplay between coffee and hops. Wonderful nose, and not overdone.
Taste; This is where my cold is really putting a damper on things, I'm not getting much from the front and mid-mouth, most of my experience is on the back end (or finish). As far as I can tell the mouth seems to follow the nose generally with this brew, the coffee is more present than on the nose. The hoppy brightness and smooth creaminess provided by the milk sugar are balanced really well, it tastes like a milkshake IPA instead of a milkshake mixed with an IPA. Maybe I can come back and visit this section in the near future, for now, my senses are limiting my opinion.
Feel; Not bubbly in the slightest, a velvety smooth weighty liquid that carries the traits of milk and cream for the majority of it's journey in, through, and down. The feel is of a classic IPA during the onset of the swallow for me, in that I got a quick hoppy bite before it returns to it's lactic character as it slides down the gullet. Really enjoy the feel on this one.
I give this beer a 3.5 overall because it is a fun and experimental Milkshake IPA that does great for it's field (in which I have very little experience, to be honest). It's far from beer at it's roots, but it's a nice treat to have and it is not too cloying in any aspect for how many things it's juggling. I also gotta' say that the MNB Garage in ATL is a fun place to stop and chill for a moment, please check it out for yourself if you get the chance.
