maybe more rightly a kriek, not sure if this is methode traditionnelle or not, but its a blend of four different batches of spontaneous beer and aged on cherries, its wonderful, not overly fruit forward or woody, fermentation driven to the max, and really incredible overall, these guys just kill it with the wild stuff in my experience, frankly this is good enough to have come from belgium. frosted soft pinkish red colored beer with a little viscosity and sediment, short white head but plenty fizzy the whole drink. my mouth instantly waters for this when i smell it, subtle red wine vinegar, medicinal and tart juicy cherry together, old oak and a vinous aspect, musty basement, fresh cedar wood, clean citrus, and super mature wild funk, definite lambic character to it, trace oxidation and green glass stink is flattering, and this still presents as fresh and vibrant because of the fruit, tons of cherry here. the flavor is wonderful too, nice and mature and funky, bretty and old worldy, maybe aged hops in play, some iodine and sharpness, lemon acidity at the end, subtle oak, red currant along with the cherry, tangy all the way but never overly sour, and i just adore this fermentation profile, really incredible. that this is wheat based is obvious. cherry juice abounds, so interesting and dynamic and it warms up really well. i loved this, hope to score many many more bottles of beer from monday night when i am in georgia later this spring, some seriously top of class stuff here for american made wild beer. wow.
