On tap at the brewery (Charlotte Location), served in a stemmed tulip
The beer pours a deep brown color with no visible highlights, a small tan head, that slowly recedes leaving behind a fair amount of lacing.
The aroma is toasty and caramelly with notes of dark fruit, toffee, and molasses. The barrel character shines through nicely adding a bit of char, a spicyness from the rye, and a subtle booziness.
The flavor is similar to the aroma; toasted malts, caramel, brown sugar, dark fruit, toffee, and maybe a bit of tobacco. The barrel character is more pronounced in the flavor than in the aroma, providing a nice warming booziness. Medium/full bodied, and lightly carbonated.
Overall this is a very nice beer

Opaque medium brown body with a large tan head and sporadic layers yet thick lacing. Aromas of the bourbon and rye barrels with toffee, molasses, and barley. Taste stars a toasty barrel, smooth booze, barley and rye snarl with toffee and molasses tones with residual hints of earth, tobacco, and almost burnt caramel. Feel is warm and barrel forward but never hot, the dryness and bitter sharpness helps make that balance possible.
