In the darkest depths of our Barrel Room lurks The Shadow King. Patiently it waits, formless but growing in power.
First resting for more than a year in freshly dumped Heaven Hill Bourbon barrels, its royal slumber was interrupted only to be recaptured in Maple Cognac barrels for an additional 12 months, maturing and intensifying its power.
Now finally, The Shadow King: Maple Cognac emerges at 13.9% ABV - rested, seasoned and ready to reap its silky, decadent vengeance.

Pours dark as night with no head. The nose is dominated by maple, but also get notes of toffee, chocolate, slight roasted malts, and cognac. The taste largely follows the nose, but the brandy barrel is stronger here. Maple, bourbon, chocolate, black licorice, cherry, vanilla. Great stout with a really good mouthfeel. Definitely barrel forward.
