Moody, mercurial and full of intrigue, Vienna has given us classic spy tales, brilliant music and architecture, and a rich cultural life. The so-called “City of Dreams” is also the birthplace of the smooth, toasty and crisp Vienna Lager.
A relatively “new” entry in the brewing canon, developed in 1841, this easy-drinking beer is a great match for crisp Fall weather. Our version starts with Vienna Malt, Carared and roasted barley, which deliver a coppery red color and notes of caramel and honey. Noble hops Hallertauer Mlttelrfrueh and Saaz supply earthiness and a bit of spice in a classic malt-forward 4.8% ABV lager.

On tap at the brewery (Charlotte Location), served in a dimpled mug
The beer pours a deep amber color with ruby highlights, and about two fingers worth of off-white head that recedes slowly into a small cap, leaving behind very little lacing
The aroma is toasty and bready, with caramel, toffee, and just a hint of earthy hops.
The flavor is bready and toasty, with a nice caramel sweetness, and a slight earthy hop presence that provides balance Medium bodied, and moderately carbonated
Overall, this is a really nice beer
