Had this on tap at the brewery. This beer comes across straight anise in both smell and taste. I'm not a fan of anise at all and its reflected in how I rated this beer. I was hoping for more of a espresso to come through, but I just couldn't get past the anise taste.

The beer hits of huge anise, reminders of Sambuca put into a milky espresso, a bit of refreshing lemon, all while being surrounded by a familiar and smooth barrel aged stout. The flavors however are a bit aggressive and needing of an acquired taste.
