On tap at Rattle n Hum, NYC. Having tasted a few Jack's Abby brews earlier, this caught my eye. I'm still of the mind that Jack's is using a very soft water source. This had just the right amount of sour with a hint of raspberry. Really, really good & summery.

Light brownish-orange, pretty close to the color of prune juice, with no head. For some of us, this may be a frightful sight, and I don't blame you.
Acidic cherry-raspberry aromas tickle the nose, if not sting it from time to time.
Tart cherry and raspberry flavors are acetic, but not too sour. There is a hint of whiskey, or is it brandy, or simply oak? It has the flavor and feel of being barrel aged, which I guess is a worthy payoff now seeing that it is in fact aged. The type of barrel wasn't entirely apparent, though.
Velvety body, like wine. Okay there it is.

Thanks Nawz.
A- Murky, hazy and cloudy pink orange body into a tumbler with a foamy off white head making it to a small blanket. Head dies fast to nothing and lacing is not an option.
S- Bright lactic and winey fruits make up for an aroma with plenty of strength. Toasted oak joins in and the grapes favor the white varietals for my nose.
T- Big wine barrel influence with mostly white but also a hint of slick deep red wine. Lactic acid, lemon juice, wet aged oak, grapes, slight sour cherry and must I say it again, wine.
MF- Foamy body very much on the light side with only a touch of creaminess. The carbonation is at the high end of the spectrum and somewhat fizzy. Ends with a medium tartness.
Wine barrels meet up with lactic acid and a medium sour feel in a light body. Bright and well done with a great barrel influence.

Bottle purchased at Jack's Abby Brewing Company in Framingham, MA.
This one pours a dark-ish red- almost brown, but not brown. This has a small head, and very little lacing.
Smells like red wine, charries, a little bit of toffee, lemony vinegar, and lactic acid.
This leans a little bit too hard on the sour vinegar thing to be truly good. It's definitely enjoyable, though. It says its aged in red and white wine barrels, and the red wine barrels are certainly more present in the taste. I wish there a bit more malt character from, the amber lager that's the base, or whatever is underneath.
This is medium bodied, with a very sour and tart mouthfeel, and a normal level of carbonation.
Not the best sour I've had from Jack's Abby, but I still enjoyed it.

Pours dark amber, translucent with lots of carbonation and a one finger head. Smells like cherry and funk, sweet hard candies. Taste is puckering sour and tart, fruity and oaky with a lingering funk on the back end. Punchy. You can taste the wine. It's pretty complex, but also refreshing with a certain lightness to it. Overall, pretty fun sour. Worth the try.
