On-tap 11/8/2016 at Julian’s in Providence, RI, served in a flute glass.
A: The beer is a deep gold color, with a large off-white head that fades slowly and leaves a thick but spotty lace on the glass.
S: The aroma contains floral hops, fruity citrus, caramelized malts and lager yeast.
T: The taste starts out sweet with flavors of citrus and caramel. Then a ncie floral hops bitterness comes in. The malt character is hearty but not too heavy and brings a good balance. The after-taste is slightly sweet and slightly hoppy.
M: Crisp and smooth, medium body, medium carbonation, finish is slightly sticky.
O: Tasty, goes down easily, not too filling, decent kick, decent representation of style, this is a solid beer to drink for a while.

Bottle from Drum Hill
Pours a deep hazy golden color with a small bubbly white head that persists. Spicy pine earth and spruce dominate the nose, with a faint bready malt underneath. Flavor follows the aroma but adds some raw grassy hop flavors and a touch of alcohol. Nice beer, but not one of my favorites from Jack's Abby.

.5 litre bottle purchased at Table and Vine in West Springfield, MA. Brief impressions below:
Pungent hop profile replete with floral, slightly oily, and fruity notes evocative of that new world tropical hop bend (yogurt, papaya, guava). I don't get any rye (or its signature subtle spiciness), but there's enough pale malt sweetness here to almost balance out the hop bitterness.
C+ (3.16) / ABOVE AVERAGE

Pours foggy gold with a dense creamy white foam head. Smells like floral ripe melons, tropical passionfruit, guava, mango, papaya, pineapple, orange citrus, fresh grapefruit, some slightly spicy caramely bready rye malt, with dank earthy herbal grass and resinous pine. Tastes like nutty sweet caramely spicy rye bready malt, some vegetal peppers, floral melons, tropical passionfruit, guava, mango, papaya, pineapple, orange citrus, fresh grapefruit, with dank earthy herbal grass and resinous pine. Feels medium bodied, slick and smooth with moderate low carbonation. Overall a real nice rye IPL.
