Cranberry BerlinerCranberry Berliner
Notes: Our ode to summer. By implementing a sour mash procedure in our kettle an intense lactic and sour character emerges, complemented by the addition of cranberries. The beer is then fermented with our lager yeast. Finishes fruity, citrusy, dry, and quite tart.

Pours a hazy copper, minimal head that dissipates to a semi-circle ring around the glass. Spots of lacing after each sip that slide down the glass almost immediately. Almost looks like liquid honey with a few carbonation bubbles here and there.

Smell has notes of cranberry, honey, wheat, with cranberry dominating the smell.

Taste is cranberry forward, tart. Honey wheat bread on the back end that balances out the tart bitterness of the cranberry. Pretty straight-forward here and what you would expect from a cranberry wheat beer.

The carbonation is more prevalent in the mouth than the appearance, while the body is slightly leaning towards the medium side of things. It's fairly crushable but a bit filling for the style and ABV. A nice crispy dry finish which goes in hand with the cranberry.

I could appreciate this during the summer months, but it has cranberry so I totally get why they release it in the fall. Not the best Berliner I've had, but certainly not the worst.

L: I am not sure what is should look like. My last Berliners were likely decades ago in Germany with those syrup additions.
S: The smell is okay, as is the case with all sour beers in my view.
T: I love the taste.
F: The feel is bubbly and sour.
O: I thought Sour Monkey was the best sour beer ever until I had this one. (I have tasted a dozen, tops.) The taste is milder, equally interesting, and very refreshing. The ABV is friendlier too. I like this well enough that I will try to brew it myself.

16 oz can split with my brother-in-law on Christmas evening while watching Die Hard (a great Christmas movie). Unfortunately, this beer is not similarly great despite being a Berliner weisse (which I like) and a cranberry beer (which I also like). There is an astringency to the sourness that detracts from the drinkability, which is a shame for a 3.5% beer. Not terrible, and more or less as expected, but ultimately a disappointment.

A strong pour is needed to gain a finger of fizzy off-white foam with short retention and sliding spots of lace. Light orange body with a hint of pink, mostly clear.

Canned cranberry greats the nose with sour milk and under-ripe orange juice.

Cranberry is disguised in the taste amongst tart and sour apple, orange and grapefruit juice.
Neutral on sweetness with almost no bitterness, sour and tart tastes are mild. Some sour candy slows down the finish, the aftertaste is quick and mild. Imagine a sour Madras.

Light body, the low carbonation is even and available throughout. Warms well, tart/sours tastes soften a bit, does not go flat. Highly sessionable, low ABV per style.

Canned on 10/23/19.

have tried a blackberry from a brewery nearby and love it
had the 14th star raspberry which was a bit better
$3 dollar pint 4pk no complaints i like this style and it drinks cooler regardless of actual temp than say a monkey fist ipa.

Canned exactly 120 days ago. It has a beautiful clear cranberry color with a thick foamy head that melts quickly.
Up close you can smell that sour mash with a equal balance of sweetness.
The taste is horrible. Like that cheapest swill I had for my first drinks in high school. Don't get too much in your mouth at one time. If you're careful to have very tiny sips then it becomes manageably dull.

Pours like a nice pink champagne. Smells and tastes like it too. Heavy cranberry upfront followed by a big sour finish. Not bad. A sour wheat lager but mostly sour.

Coming out of the can, Cranberry Berliner pours an incredibly clear water like color with a cranberry hue. The quick pour yields a modestly large and billowing foam head. Yet, it quickly dissipates. What is most interesting about the appearance is that the color looks darker in the glass, more like a golden haze. A chameleon like appearance.
The aroma can be described as straw, hay and barnyard with a subtle cranberry twist that adds a touch of fruit to the funk. Tart and sour with wild yeast and lemon rind followed by a touch of grass and wheat.
The taste is predictably tart and sour but without an overwhelming acidity. It is more lemon like than cranberry. There is a cider vinegar coating that is pleasant. The finish is quite dry and acidic. The body is medium with a moderate carbonation.
I though this was a decent Berliner Weisse. I've had better stuff from Jack's Abbey, yet, I rate this one as slightly above average.

A: Pours a relatively clear pale pinkish yellow in color with moderate to heavy amounts of active visible carbonation rising quickly from the bottom of the glass and faint deep cranberry colored highlights. The beer has a three finger tall fizzy foamy off-white head that quickly reduces to a large patch of mottled very thin film covering the entire surface of the beer and a thin ring at the edges of the glass. Light to moderate amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Just shy of moderate aromas of lacto tartness over the top of light aromas of slightly sour wheat malts and a hint of tart cranberries.

T: Upfront there are light flavors of slightly sour wheat malts with a slightly heavier than moderate flavor of lacto tartness. That is followed by light flavors of slightly tart fresh cranberries. Light amounts of lingering tartness through the finish.

M: Light bodied with slightly heavier than moderate amounts of carbonation. Light amounts of acidic prickliness and a hint of almost creaminess.

O: Enjoyable and easy to drink with a subtle presence of cranberry which I find refreshing since so many other fruit Berliners are a little over the top with fruitiness. Refreshing and perfect for summer but I could see it being enjoyable with a turkey sandwich.

Looks great, pale with a slight red hint.

Smell is a bit sour.

Tastes great; it's quite tart, but the fruit flavor comes through nicely without overpowering. It's the kind of beer that would be great cutting through a rich meal.

Had a similar mouth feel to a sour candy (minus the sweetness).

Overall, if you like sour beers and fruit flavors, this is a great choice.

Poured into a pokal, the appearance was a semi-pale "cool"/strained grapefruit pulp color with a finger's worth of white foamy head that quickly fell off. No lace.
The aroma had some sweet to sour to tart cranberry flesh up front colliding over some lemon rind and a little bit of grassy sweet notes.
The flavor was moderately sour pulling in the tart aspect in front of some crisp sweetness. Just a touch of the cranberry in the aftertaste.
The mouthfeel was light bodied with a pretty good sessionability about it. Carbonation felt somewhat low but I wasn't bothered by that. Good bit of pucker hitting against my tongue with a respectable stickiness as it seemed to slide slightly. Did I mind that? Actually, I didn't, seemed nice to be honest.
Overall, quite brisk and refreshing for a Summer's day, I'd have again for me, but I did miss some of that "soured" wheat portion in the flavor and aroma.

Pours a translucent whitish/red hue into my glass. Tart, sweet cranberry upfront with a touch of wheat. Intensely tart with some creaminess in the middle. Cranberry flourishes toward the back of the throat. Amazing on a hot day.

A: The beer is hazy yellow in color and has some purplish hues. It poured with a short white head that died down, leaving some wisps of bubbles on the surface and a narrow collar around the edge of the glass.
S: Light to moderate aromas of lactobacillus are present in the nose.
T: The taste follows the smell and has sour flavors of lactobacillus along with hints of cranberries.
M: It feels light-bodied, tart and a little creamy on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer tastes like your basic Berliner Weissbier with the addition of some cranberries. I like the subtleness of the fruit, as cranberries themselves can be very tart. The beer was very easy to drink and makes for a good selection on a hot summer day.

A: Pours an orange-pink color with 2 fingers of head that fades down to a thin cap

S: Some tartness and cranberries up front along with a bit of wheat and breadiness

T: Follows the nose. Starts off with the tartness and goes into some cranberry and wheat notes while maintaining the tartness. Some bready malt comes in with a light sweetness that tames the tartness. Finishes with lingering cranberry and wheat

M: Medium bodied with moderate carbonation

O: A solid summer beer that is moderately tart and very drinkable. The cranberry is woven in nicely with the tartness and isn't cloying at all

This beer poured a light peach color with only the hint of a head.
Cranberry and lemon aroma. Almost underwhelming.
Tart cranberry taste. Still on the underwhelming side.
Dry and crisp..
Good mouthfeel, otherwise an average beer.

This beer pours a hazy light pinkish orange color that reminds me of peach juice. The head is half a finger, more foamy than I would have expected and bright white.

The smell is cranberry, wheat, and acidic lemon tartness. Simple, but perfect.

Taste follows suit. Cranberry is the first flavor detected and then it combines wonderfully with the wheat and lemon tartness mid sip, and finishes fairly dry. 6/10 on the pucker scale.

Feel is light side of medium and crisp. The wheat definitely makes the body a bit more hefty which is nice. Medium carbonation and a dry finish.

Overall this beer is awesome. Very flavorful, but still very light and super drinkable. Really fantastic stuff, which is par for the course with JA.

16 oz. can dated 06/21/17

Pours foggy hazy pinkish gold with a quickly receding white foam head. Smells like musty tart cranberries, lemon, wheaty grain, mild spice, with floral earthy herbal grassy pine. Tastes like musty tart cranberries, lemon, wheaty grains, mild spice, with floral earthy herbal grassy pine. Feels medium bodied, creamy and smooth with moderate carbonation. This is really well balanced and drinkable with fairly low acidity. Overall a really nice cranberry Berliner weissbier.

Solid poolside sipper! The abundant production and 16 oz canning will more than likely lead to this being a summer time go to. Nothing complex. Just clean, tart and crisp!

500ml bottle into a snifter appears a perfectly clear golden peachy color with 3 fingers white froth that slowly collapses leaving a webbing of lace.

Aroma has a fruity sweetness overtop a mineral laden carbonic bite. Little bit of sulfur and stinky cheese.

Taste is tart like cranberry juice with a cereal grain sweetness and lasting lemony lactic feel. Despite the nose being mineral/carbonic the taste is pretty clean and fruity.

Light in body with moderate carbonation. It has a slightly watery feel but overall is pretty solid. I liked this one and its festive nature lends itself well to being a holiday treat I would have again. My only gripe is the carbonic bite to the nose.

Bottled date is weird, 090705/02/16

Was saving this for Thanskgiving, but couldn't get it to the table, so drinking it now. Pours a huge fluffy foamy 2 finger head that fades at a med pace, lightt sticky lacing, hazy pinkish tan color, little pink hue.

Nose has some cranberry tartness, a little fermented frosted cranberry aroma, with a hint of salt, some grainy doughy bready wheat, cracked wheat, a little tartness and hint lemony, a little yeasty bacteria like funk but very light, a touch of minerality.

taste is very tart, quite sour, a little lemony with a touch of cranberry, actually more like tart raw cranberry juice but not a ton of the cranberry flavor, a cranberry lemonade maybe, with a light wheat, wheat is lighter than I expected, a little doughy and raw yeast, bready as well, fair acidity. Finish is dry a little flemmy, quite tart, more cranberry lemonade lingering.

Mouth is a bit thin but not too much for a berlinner, decent carb, fair acidity and flemmy.

Overall OK, quite like a little cranberry lemonade thing, a bit thin, but a decent beer.

Bought a bottle at the Beer Shop in East Longmeadow. The beer poured with a large head that dissipated into a thin ring around the glass. Overall, the beer has a burnt orange appearance. Aromas seem faint, but what I can smell is more of a wheat and bread and very light fruit that full cranberry. Taste improves significantly from the aromas with a very fruity, tart taste of sour cranberries. Mouthfeel also helps the beer by making it very refreshing and crisp to supplement that sour flavor. Overall, I wish the aromas were a bit stronger, but this beer had some great flavors and a good mouthfeel.

A fine beer, but nothing special. The lager yeast really comes through and bonds decently with the cranberry, but that is really the extent of the taste. The feel is a little soapy for the style, but good body thickness. The smell is too yeast forward for me personally, and would have like more cranberry. Overall simple and decent

from a bottle to a beer teku
look; a really beautiful fuzzy pinkish peach, 1" fluffy very white head, not much retention, some lacing
smell; sour, yeasty, some cranberry, a little funk, smells right
taste; sour, with more grainy than biscuity sweetness underneath, not too sweet, some cranberry tartness but not overdone
feel; some carbonation, light, very refreshing
overall; this is a delicious well done berlinerweisse with a little cranberry, which is nice in a berlinerweisse
