Our ode to summer. By implementing a sour mash procedure in our kettle an intense lactic and sour character emerges, complemented by the addition of cranberries. The beer is then fermented with our lager yeast. Finishes fruity, citrusy, dry, and quite tart.

Canned 10/29/20

I can't say I've ever had any sour beers from Jack's Abby. I assume this will be good, as they always put out solid product. The idea of a lagered sour is also interesting to me

Pours a cloudy pinkish orange with 2 fingers of white head that quickly fades to a thin ring and leaves no lacing

The aroma is very candy-like. I get notes of sweet watermelon, underripe cranberry, soft and subtly spicy wheat, and a touch of crisp lager yeast

The sip starts off with notes of tart lemon and cranberry with a bit of that sweeter watermelon from the aroma. The swallow brings another flash of general lemony tartness, along with sweeter notes of cranberry, raspberry, crisp malt, pepper, and light wheat

Very light bodied with moderate carbonation, which when combined with a very low abv leads to a super refreshing and sessionable sour. Finishes very crisp and just short of dry

This was a damn solid Weisse. I could absolutely crush these on a hot day, even just drinking one feels like summer

Pours slightly murky, gold in color with 1/4 inch head. Taste is pomegranate, sour mix, with cranberry on the finish. Light bodied, super tart with high carbonation. Cranberry really comes out as the beer warms. Nice and sessionable beer.

Pours a hazy copper, minimal head that dissipates to a semi-circle ring around the glass. Spots of lacing after each sip that slide down the glass almost immediately. Almost looks like liquid honey with a few carbonation bubbles here and there.

Smell has notes of cranberry, honey, wheat, with cranberry dominating the smell.

Taste is cranberry forward, tart. Honey wheat bread on the back end that balances out the tart bitterness of the cranberry. Pretty straight-forward here and what you would expect from a cranberry wheat beer.

The carbonation is more prevalent in the mouth than the appearance, while the body is slightly leaning towards the medium side of things. It's fairly crushable but a bit filling for the style and ABV. A nice crispy dry finish which goes in hand with the cranberry.

I could appreciate this during the summer months, but it has cranberry so I totally get why they release it in the fall. Not the best Berliner I've had, but certainly not the worst.

Cheers!

L: I am not sure what is should look like. My last Berliners were likely decades ago in Germany with those syrup additions.
S: The smell is okay, as is the case with all sour beers in my view.
T: I love the taste.
F: The feel is bubbly and sour.
O: I thought Sour Monkey was the best sour beer ever until I had this one. (I have tasted a dozen, tops.) The taste is milder, equally interesting, and very refreshing. The ABV is friendlier too. I like this well enough that I will try to brew it myself.

16 oz can split with my brother-in-law on Christmas evening while watching Die Hard (a great Christmas movie). Unfortunately, this beer is not similarly great despite being a Berliner weisse (which I like) and a cranberry beer (which I also like). There is an astringency to the sourness that detracts from the drinkability, which is a shame for a 3.5% beer. Not terrible, and more or less as expected, but ultimately a disappointment.

A strong pour is needed to gain a finger of fizzy off-white foam with short retention and sliding spots of lace. Light orange body with a hint of pink, mostly clear.

Canned cranberry greats the nose with sour milk and under-ripe orange juice.

Cranberry is disguised in the taste amongst tart and sour apple, orange and grapefruit juice.
Neutral on sweetness with almost no bitterness, sour and tart tastes are mild. Some sour candy slows down the finish, the aftertaste is quick and mild. Imagine a sour Madras.

Light body, the low carbonation is even and available throughout. Warms well, tart/sours tastes soften a bit, does not go flat. Highly sessionable, low ABV per style.

Canned on 10/23/19.

just wanted to note the lemon was strong like they added some
have tried a blackberry from a brewery nearby and love it
had the 14th star raspberry which was a bit better
$3 dollar pint 4pk no complaints i like this style and it drinks cooler regardless of actual temp than say a monkey fist ipa.

Canned exactly 120 days ago. It has a beautiful clear cranberry color with a thick foamy head that melts quickly.
Up close you can smell that sour mash with a equal balance of sweetness.
The taste is horrible. Like that cheapest swill I had for my first drinks in high school. Don't get too much in your mouth at one time. If you're careful to have very tiny sips then it becomes manageably dull.
Flat.

Pours like a nice pink champagne. Smells and tastes like it too. Heavy cranberry upfront followed by a big sour finish. Not bad. A sour wheat lager but mostly sour.
