Collaboration with SØle Artisan Ales
Forget West-coast IPAs, here in the Northeast we’re pioneering a whole new style. We’ve joined forces with Søle Artisan Ales to bring you a hazy, creamy and juicy IPL with a seriously intense tropical hop aroma, and just enough bitterness to keep you coming back for more.

16 oz. can Orange with a little haze and a small white head. Smells of sweet malts, some citrus, tropical hops, and pine. I really don't get a ton of aroma from my glass, though the inside of the can smells great. Much more flavorful, though. Hefty pine resin with some tropical hop flavors. Sweet pale malt. Aggressive pine bitterness. Lingering sweetness in the back end with a little bit of a bite. Medium heavy. A little bigger than I'd like it to be. A lot of the Jack's Abby beers I've had have been clearly in the lager category. This one really bends the style. If I didn't know any better, I probably wouldn't even have known it was a lager.

This next brewery horizontal will CANsist of a curious admixture of bottles & CANs, the latter in support of The CANQuest (tm) while it all serves to reduce the ever-shrinking backlog here at Chez Woody. 2/7.
From the CAN: "Extra Hoppy"; "A collaboration between Jack's Abby Brewing and SØle Artisan Ales"; "India Style"; "Wicked Philthy/Lager"; "Forget West-coast IPAs, here in the Northeast we’re pioneering a whole new style. I beCAN by Crack!ing open the vent, only to be met by/with a light spritz from CANother brimful craft CAN! 8=O I CANtinued with a slow, gentle C-Line Glug into the awaiting Pilsner glass. It foamed beautifully to form two-plus fingers of dense, foamy, rocky, eggshell-white head with very good retention, leaving a nice bit of lacing in its wake. Color was Golden-Amber (SRM = > 5, < 7) with NE-quality clarity, prompting an impromptu visit from The Gelt Gang of Mammon, Midas & Croesus, all clamoring for a taste of the liquid sunshine in my glass. Nose was less tropical, as they suggested, and more towards orange/CANgerine. Mmm. Mouthfeel was medium, but solid for a Lager. The taste was pleasantly bitter, more citrusy than tropical and trending towards grapefruit while retaining the orange/CANgerine flavor as noted on the nose. Mmm. Finish was semi-dry to dry & highly refreshing on yet CANother hot, humid Summer's day. YMMV.

A: [3.00] No ABV and no date. Boo! Beer is a pale straw color with minimal white head.
S: [3.75] Resin, pine, tropical fruit, lemon rind.
T: [4.25] Melon, mango, white grapes, piney resin bitterness at the end. Also has a bit of a lemon 7up taste in there.
M: [3.75] Decent carbonation and sticky thicker body with some resin on the finish.
O: [3.75] This beer is really tasty. Lots of different flavor packed in there but nothing out of balance or overpowering. It is a dangerous 7% because it goes down very easily.

Sparsely sparkling amber with a moderate fluffy white foam clinging like sponge to the glass.
This can may have been a tad old, but I'm getting pine, graham, rug, honey drizzled toast, lime, and Sweet Tarts.
Taste is pretty classic West Coast actually, with pine, rug, graham, toast, lime, Sweet Tarts and grapefruit again, so, pretty much the same as the nose, except for some slightly refreshing and unique bittersweet black tea in the finish.
The frothy medium body is a little chewy.

This one pours a somewhat hazy golden orange, with a one inch head, and a good bit of lacing.
This smells pretty dank and very hoppy on the nose, with melon, grapefruit, marijuana, pine, and flowers.
While this is still cold, it's absolutely delicious- zesty and sharp, with a killer bitterness. But as it warms, this gets a tiny bit vegetal and weirdly perfumey. It's luckily not super overwhelming, so this is still a tasty beer.
This is light bodied, and quite crisp, with a good level of carbonation.
Most of Jack's Abby's IPLs are better than this, but this is still a fine beer, despite a few small issues.
