Our second collaboration with Cerveja Avos. This Baltic porter aged on Amburana wood which imparts characteristics of vanilla, cocoa, cinnamon, and warm spices.

Description doesn't say any adjuncts are present so it must be the amburana wood that's imparting the big notes of raisin, fig and vanilla. Yet doesn't drink too sweet. Actually quite easy to drink. Impressive.

500ml bottle served in a Spiegelau tulip. Pours a deep burgundy with a loose, quarter inch, tan-colored head that dissipates into a froth that coalesces around the shoulders and a soapy swirl across the center. Ruby highlights are revealed when backlit. Nose expresses vinous notes and hints of cocoa in the background. Flavor profile is interesting - a burst of cinnamon hits upfront and notes of vanilla come out towards the finish. Mouthfeel is light in body with a carbonation shy of assertive. Overall, a solid example of the style.
