This medium bodied Czech lager was open fermented. It has notes of pumpernickel bread and sweet sticky toffee.

Canned 2020/12/15
Pours a giant frothy fizzy 2+ finger off-whit head with good retention, soapy lacing, dark hazy mahogany-molasses brown color
Nose brings toasted brownish malts, chocolate, a little biscuity, bread crust and toasted grain, faint coffee
Taste more of the toasted brown malts, biscuity with a hint of wafer cookie, some chocolate, soft creamy malts as well, some toasted grain and bread crust, a touch of caramelization notes, light herbal hops, a bit of bitterness mostly on the mild sticky drier finish
Mouth is med to lighter bod, soft lager, higher foamy carb, a bit too high
Overall a decent lager, not quite up to the level I was expecting, malts are decent, nice malty characters in general but not much for the roasty or dark level, but otherwise good on teh malts, lagering was nice, the hop level is really where I think this misses, as the Czech style dark lager should have a fair hop character and bitterness, and carbonation a bit too high, but still a tasty beer

I love this stuff. I love dark beers and lagers are no exception. This is a really well done one. Saaz hops are my favorite too so I love that. I buy a bunch of this every time Jacks makes it. I had on draft once in the beer hall. That was a special treat.

Pours clear, dark brown in color with one third inch head. Taste is pumpernickel bread and caramel. Light bodied, moderate carbonation, slightly sweet. Makes for a nice and clean Czech lager. Nice winter beer to sit with.

Pours a lovely, deep mahogany hue with a thin, cream-colored head embedded with pinpricks. Nose is fairly mild and subdued - some notes of caramel and roast. Taste consistent with nose with the addition of some grains. Mouthful is light in body with a smooth, even carbonation. Overall - mild, drinkable and satisfying.
