I believe this is meant to be a polotmavy, which it hits quite nicely. Good amount of floral hops, toasted malts, and a hint of funk likely from the open fermentation. Overall, a really nice lager.

From the masters of lagers themselves, Jack's Abby steps in with a limited release of the under-represented style of Czech dark lagers. From the first one I had from Tree House, I've kept my eyes peeled for other examples of the style. I made a trip up to Jack's Abby last week and when I saw this I knew I had to grab it. Let's see how this one holds up to the other few

Pours a cloudy dark orange with 3 fingers of rocky white head that slowly fades to a thick cap and leaves patchy lacing, definitely quite a bit lighter in color than others I've had, hopefully it's just as flavorful

Ok, in the nose we're getting back to familiar territory of robust but clean lager. I'm picking up on aromas of dark doughy bread, grass, toasted grain, light roast coffee, and a touch of raisin

Taste-wise, this veers more into a generic Vienna or Dunkel lager, with less expressive flavors. On the front end of the sip I'm tasting toasted dark bread, sweet honey, light floral hops, and a faint touch of general citrus. The swallow brings notes of sweet honey, toasted grain, floral hops, and doughy malt

A medium body pairs with mild carbonation, resulting in a slick yet smooth beer. Finishes a bit sticky and sweet but feels nice overall

This is light and sessionable for sure, but lacks the depth I've come to expect from the style. Still, I won't complain about having to drink the rest of the pack
