This is a nice festbier, but lacks a depth of flavor that could have made it great. There is a lot of crackery and biscuits malt, and a nicely subdued level of hops. Clean and dry finish leaves you ready for the next sip.

Yet another beer from my trip out to Jack’s Abby/Springdale this weekend, we have an all Massachusetts grown malt Festbier. Quite the odd time seasonally for a Festbier or a Marzen, kinda in between the two. Let’s see what this one is all about
Pours a cloudy amber gold with 2 fingers of rocky white head that slowly fades to a thin cap and leaves minimal lacing
This is pretty laid back in the aroma, with some spice shining through with subtle malt character. I’m picking up on aromas of pepper, doughy malt, water cracker, honey, and light earthy hops
Where this was restrained in the aroma, taste wise it feels a bit bland unfortunately, quite odd for Jack’s Abby to not have an incredible depth in flavor. On the front end of the sip I’m tasting sweet honey, orange rind, and wheat. The swallow brings notes of crackery malt, honey, and earthy hops. Good on paper, but every taste is fleeting
A medium body pairs with moderate carbonation, resulting in a smooth and crisp beer. Finishes mostly dry with a light hop bitterness
This is not bad by any means, but pretty bland overall. I’ll try to pair the rest of the 4 pack with some food to elevate it
