Barrel-Aged Framinghammer - Vanilla

Black color . Nice, beige head. The aroma of coffee, vanilla, and wood. Malty sweetness at the start gives way to roasted bitterness afterward. Another good porter from Jack's Abby.

Poured “stout black” with a very enthusiastic light brown head that was half the glass until I let it settle.
The flavor is vanilla bourbon forward, neither outweighed the other, with the porter flavor filling in the rest. And it is a really good porter. Lots of chocolate and figs and maybe some cherry, wasn’t sure.
The feel is heavier than the typical lager but not quite viscous. Making it way too easy to gulp.
Seriously good beer.

Bottle at RBSG. Black pour with ring of beige head. Another nice addition to the series, vanilla being a bit more boozy than the rest. Still sweet, a but tangy.

Looks excellent in the glass. Jet black body, small tan head shrinks to a ring and faint covering. Scattered lacing.

Light aromas of bourbon and vanilla.

On tasting, smooth, sweet, vanilla, with a mild bourbon barrel touch.

Mouth close to full, finish warm sweet vanilla

Overall, prefer the coffee variant, but this is a very nice sweet sipper, well brewed.

Pours opaque, jet black in color with 1/4 inch head. Taste is big vanilla and bourbon with chocolate and char. Sweet, roasty, heavy bodied and low carbonation. Excellent beer where the vanilla really shines through. One of the better Framinghammer variants I have had. The vanilla compliments the oak nicely.

 

Looks amazing. Jet black with a marshmallow creamy khaki head. Smell vanilla,malts, caramel. Taste strong cola,vanilla,chocolate, root beer,coffee. Feels medium bodied, well carbonated,finishes juicy. My all time favorite beer is Dogfish Head world wide vanilla aged stout. It was like 18% ABV. This reminds me a little of that beer. Not sure what chemical in brewing mimics cola, but this has a strong Pepsi taste.

L: Pours a dark cola like color with a small tan head and no lacing on the glass. No light is getting through this beer.

S: The bourbon is forefront here with notes of booze and cherry, followed by vanilla and oak, there is some chocolate but it plays second fiddle to the bourbon.

T: Thick vanilla and bourbon, notes of booze and cherry, roasted malt and chocolate, nice beer but not as decadent as some.

F: Slick with a big body.

O: This is a nice barrel aged Baltic Porter

Dark amber brown to black.
Thin filmy head - looks like an imperial stout.
Smells of a stout.
Vanilla dominates the taste. Bourbon is there but reserved, in the background.
Tangy mouth feel.
Maybe less substantial than an imperial stout, but close.

 

Sampling a cellar temp bottle pored into my snifter. The beer has been in my cellar for about a year. Pour is a dark cola color with no light passing through the glass and has a creamy tan head of about 1 cm that rests easily on the surface of my glass. Leaves some tight lattice on the sides of my glass after each sip.
The aroma is rich and malty with dark chocolate and some sweet bourbon and vanilla mixing. I dont get any hops and I also dont sense any level of booze on this beer.
First sip reveals a very smooth textured beer with gentle rolling carbonation. The beer has an average to thick body and does leave a little bit of a coating on my palate after each sip.
The flavor is similar to the nose with some good chocolate dose mixing with bourbon that lingers after each swallow. I get hints of vanilla and some brown sugar. No hop presence that I can detect and the booze is only present on the warmth in my belly. This is a great beer for malt lovers and is something I could drink a few of easily, only problem is then I wouldnt be able to do much else. Buy it if you see em!

Dark burnt brown with transparent edging, and a khaki colored head of 2 fingers, receding to 1.

Aroma is of vanilla and bourbon, with some slight trace coffee elements. Chocolate too. Smells very well put together.

Taste explodes with bourbon and caramel to start, slight vanilla creme, then followed by alcohol heat, then a huge slap of cardboard. Alcohol burn is way past 10 now. Hot alcoholic cardboard finish. Damn it.

Feel is semi-creamy, thinner than I'd like but I know this is a lager. On par for a Baltic Porter. Tons of alcohol heat.

Overall, the flavor's finish killed it for me. It's still tasty but I feel like this beer could have finished SO strong! I don't do well with barrel aged milk carton.

So buttery, velvety, smooth, and delicious. The second variant of the Framinghammer family I've had thus far, and I hope to have them all. Put's many a BA stout to shame in the categories that matter. S-T-F-O, these are world class brews.

A - Dark brown pour with thin toffee colored lacing.

S - Chocolate, vanilla, bourbon, cocoa bean.

T - Very bourbon forward followed by rich cocoa, some chocolate, and vanilla. Ends with a lingering cocoa and vanilla with a hint of oak and bourbon.

M - Rich and full bodied that's lip smacking sticky.

O - This is a really nice barrel aged beer. Recommended.
