L- Poured opaque black with a one finger light tan head that quickly dissipated to no head.
Light lacing.

S- Nose of roasted malt, dark chocolate, and a whiff of black licorice.

T- Sweet roasted malt, dark chocolate, and a moderate black licorice finish that lingers on the tongue.

F- Medium-full body, low carbonation, syrupy.

O- Nice RIS that I would by again.

A - Pitch black pour with a thin, dense caramel colored lacing ring.

S - Toasted cocoa, light chocolate malt, and delicate charcoal aroma.

T - Toasted chcolate malt, some charcoal presence, and slight astringency. Finishes with a mild astringent bitterness and a slight bit of alcohol presence.

M - Full body with a soft texture, dry on the back of the tongue, the rest of the mouth waters.

O - A solid middle of the road Imperial Stout.

From a 12oz can dated best by 6/2/21 into a pint glass. Note: Can says 10.5% abv.

Pours opaque pitch black with about one half finger of tan head that dissipates quickly leaving little to no lacing. Not the greatest looking beer head-wise.

Things improve on the nose...pretty strong notes of bitter baker's chocolate, sweet chocolate, coffee and light roastiness.

Taste follows. Bitter baker's chocolate dominates, sweet chocolate and coffee in the background. Not a whole lot of smoke/roast.

Pretty full, thick, smooth mouthfeel. Low carbonation. Bitterness and alcohol on the aftertaste.

Overall, a decent RIS at a decent price ($14/6). Only downside is that the look of it was unimpressive. You would almost think there was something wrong with it (maybe there is?) with how quickly the head disappears. Taste is in line with the style though.

Poured into small chalice: color is solid black, tan head presents 1/2 inch thick and dissipates to thin ring, no lacing.

Smell is roasted malt, chocolate syrup, earthy bitterness.

Taste is deep roasted malt, chocolate but not overly sweet, light booziness, earthy bitterness - fairly big and bold and a touch syrupy but works at this strength.

Mouthfeel is low carbonation, moderate/strong sweetness, moderate bitterness, then slow drying.

Overall an excellent RIS with sweetness to counter the strength.

So glad they turned it down to 10.5%. it's definitely way less sweet and syrupy good mild smoke some chocolate tones and a bit of vanilla sweetness. Big pussy great looking beer deep dark blackness a half an inch of mocha froth good lacing. Best part was I picked up a can for under three bucks and I'll probably go back and get some more. Tasty!

Malty, boozy, sweet, and dark. Enjoyed this at the brewery, Dave's 50th b-day weekend. Molasses and syrupy sweet, yet sharp bite at the end. Definitely a sipper.

12 oz can

pours jet black, with tan colored head. Bold dark cocoa and espresso aroma and taste, but not overly sweet. Full bodied, nice thick smooth feel.

pours very dark with a creamy dark head that dissipates quickly
on the nose, malty mixed with wet dog. something's a little off here.
taste doesn't follow the nose thankfully. flavor profile isn't the deepest but it's a toasty, malty stout. very sweet

mouthfeel is a bit syrupy, boozy and warming.
consumed one month after its born on date. this brew is all over the place. left me scratching my head because Helltown has some killer beers

Poured from the 12 oz. can into a snifter stem bulb style glass. Yes, they're canning it now.

A: Has legs...head dies quickly and the body is darker than Beelzebub's soul. Ruby red edges when swirled.

S: Deeply roasted malts to the chocolate end of the spectrum. These deeply roasted malt notes belie the lightness of the body that follows. Some banana-y esters creep around the edges. Roasted smoke notes peek at edges as well.

T: Slick on lips and palate, Dense. That nose pretty much follows through on taste, deep roasted malted milk ball and deeper roasted flavors abound, some of the esters from the yeast peek in the taste as well. Little booze burn at finish.

M: Slick and dense. Creamy at edges. Slick on and after finish. Roasty mouth breath sticks around.

O: Drinks lighter than it looks. Dangerous. I'd say with some more body increasing elements it would punch at the heavyweight levels like FIS, but it is really damn good as it is because it is less filling and holds its own. Would buy another six pack.

Had on draft in snifter glass. Small head with nice lacing. Smells great. Lots of taste with a superior kick. Everything you look for in a Imperial Stout. I will be going back for seconds :)

Reviewed from memory and sparse phone notes one week ago. Poured on draft to a snifter glass, very dark and opaque. The pour was colder than it probably should have been, so I mostly sipped for a while to let it warm. Throughout, offered dark roasted malts and lighter notes of cocoa and baker's chocolate on the nose. The flavors were relatively subdued, not just from the cold temperature, but kind of a nebulous idea of what a big, generic RIS should be--not bad, but nothing stood out in particular. What did impress me, however, was how incredibly smooth and full the mouthfeel was, without being syrupy or oily. Very little evidence of its 13% abv.
