Our brand-new Baltic Porter stems from a long-standing tradition of high-gravity, cold-fermented dark lagers made in Europe.
This full-bodied beer starts with notes of toffee, caramel and dark chocolate, and finishes velvety smooth.
The addition of coffee from our friends at Grim Wizard Coffee provides the perfect complement to this decadent beer.

The pour is dark brown, not quite stout black with an impressive light brown head that left rings of lacing.
The taste is very flavorful; coffee, chocolate, roasted grain. It has a very good flavor, just never would have guessed it was a Baltic Porter.
The feel is pretty much right along the lines of the style sheet, not quite crisp, but light and very easy quaffing.
OA, really good beer, hopefully they keep brewing it.

Look is spot on for what you want in an imperial porter nice 1/4 inch of mocha foam. Smell to me is a bit diluted but the best by 7/06/24 sticker on the bottom now makes sense over a year old. Still packing a great combo of sweet milk sugar malts to roast coffee balanced dark chocolate throughout and smooth balanced body one needs with a coffee beer, Dare I say it might be better now than when it was once canned because it is mellow, semi sweet and easy to crush. Might pick up a fresh one in the future to compare but if you find it hella old it drinks fantastic!

Hellfire Alchemist from Helltown Brewing. Purchased from Franklin Beer, Franklin, PA, 26/04/25. Six-pack of 12 fl oz cans, $10.00 (Including tax), $ 0.139/fl oz. Reviewed 09/05/25 (Review 3527). Note that I use DD/MM/YY protocol.
Stamped on the can bottom “BEST BY 07/06/2024.” Stored on room temperature shelf at the distributor, 39 degrees F at home; served at 45.1 degrees F in a hand washed and dried Jester King snifter. The final temperature is 51.6 degrees F.
Appearance – 4
First pour – Deep Amber (SRM 15), clear.
Body – Amber Brown (SRM 18), opaque. Under direct light, same with lumps of precipitate visible on the inside wall of the glass. When rear-lite, opaque, but some light penetrates at the edges, amber.
Head – Average (Maximum 3.5 cm, aggressive center pour). Wheat, high density with a rocky top, average retention, collapsing to a 0.7 – 1.1 cm undulating crown and a thin, complete, rocky cap.
Lacing – Good. Multiple bands of small to near-microscopic bubbles.
Aroma – 4 – Weak coffee and chocolate. No yeast, no hops, no alcohol, no roasted malt.
Flavor – 4.25 – Weak coffee, chocolate, and some traces of roasted malt and char, with just a hint of smoke. No yeast, no hops. No alcohol (7.9 % ABV, according to the label). No dimethylsulfide or diacetyl. Pleasantly mild gastric warming.
Palate – 3.5 – Medium: slightly creamy: soft but lively carbonation.
Style: Follows the loose style guidelines as condensed by BA.
Final impression and summation: 4 Uncredited label artist. Despite being past the BB date, I grabbed what was available. Even being old, this is still better than several of the (overpriced) Imperial stouts I’ve recently consumed.

4/5/24 On tap at Marilyn's of Uniontown. Super excited to find another Baltic Porter.
Aroma is nice and stoney, roasty, and most definitely, the coffee comes through!
Beautiful coffee flavor. Super toasty and a slight bitter finish.
Lovely offering, Helltown! You've hit it out of the park yet again!
