Shared can at Mandag i Annen, Cardinal. ABV is 10%. Dark brown to mahogany colour, beige head. Moderately warming mouthfeel. Aroma and flavour of malts, "spicy" Belgian ale yeast, brown kandij sugar syrup and mildly spicy / herbal hops. A very good quadrupel.

Service: Bottle
A:
Pours ruby brown out the spout in the light but is pitch black in the glass. Finger and a half dollop of tan head settles to a slodi film with a ring around the glass. Ok retention; seckled lacing. (3.5)
S:
Sweet bread and molasses oats. Licorice, raisins, soy sauce, leather, dusty wood, brown bread, molasses. (3.5)
T:
An old shed. Dust, dirt, oil, wood, leather...; molasses, oats, bread, caramelized roast malt, coffee, cacao nibs. (3.5)
M:
Chewy, full bodied, lingering sweet finish with noticeable boozy smoothness (not hot or overt), pretty cloying for my tastes. (3.5)
O:
Pretty good, interesting BSDA.
Straight outta la Beauce. This is a big, thick, boozy sipper for a winter's night (although autumn works, too, I suppose). Would be especially good for drinking as dinner. Really sticky, thick and big. It is good at first but is a bit much.
Pours nice, but quickly loses all head. The nose is sweet with lots of dirty leather, molasses and tobacco. The taste follows suit and is very sweet and a bit sticky. Tons of molasses and some bitter chocolate throughout. Pretty clolying and it is boozier than I think it could be without foregoing deliciousness, but that's just me...
Decent beer, regardless. These guys have definitely gotten a lot better than even a couple years ago I feel...
Would have again; worth a shot, especially if you're coming in out of the cold. (3.25)
After it warms and you've drank it a while it becomes a little too molassey and leathery. The first time I had it I thought it was cause I was in a hot tub and it is a big, boozy beer. But it was too much this time, too. It made me shudder so much that I lowered the overall score a bit, might just be my tastes, though, don't be afraid : )

Draft pint at Bier Market in Montreal.
Pours dark brown, almost no head or lace.
The aroma is caramel malts, molasses, bit of smokiness.
Taste is similar to the smell, layers of flavor, caramel, dark fruits, molasses, coffee, finishes with some smokey notes.
Medium carbonation and body, smooth and easy to drink.
Enjoyed this one

From the bottle into a pint glass
A: deep dark brown, almost no head, and what is there gives way quickly.
S: the aroma is molasses, caramel a bit of coffee and malts.
T: similar to the smell, but the coffee is bit more there. Oddly I am reminded of cherry twizzlers too.
M: thin with medium carbonation. A bitterness is also present.
O: consider me underwhelmed with this beer. I usually love a brown ale and I think I would pass on this one if it were offered to me again.
