the better of the two ipa types i had at nexus, this one a seasonal ipa apparently, more blonde and a bit less malty than their house ipa, and quite a bit more robust on the hops as well, more new school, more drinkable for me. clear and golden in the glass, a much paler grain base here i think lets the hops shine a bit more, but they also smell more prominent on their own, with pine and pineapple together, a mix of tropical and northwestern vibes come together nicely in both the aroma and the flavor too. some sweetness up front, a little oily from the hops, fresh lemon without the acid or the bitter, and a grassy finish with some earthy minerals, less bitter than it seems like it would be, kind of fades out slow, off dry and just a tad under carbonated. i liked this better than the house ipa, seems more in tune with current palates for the style. i thought all the beer at nexus was good, but none of it really blew me away. maybe i ordered wrong, they seem to be well liked by the locals. this was the best of the lot.
