Poured from a bottle. Deep, cloudy, reddish brown with a nice tan head. Aroma is sweet and malty with some honey and some earthy pine notes. Flavor has a lot of malty flavors with caramel and some earthiness. Hop flavors come through nicely with a little bitterness that balances excellently with the malts. There's also a bit of alcoholic warmth to it, but it's not even a little bit overwhelming. The finish is very smooth with some earthy, woody aftertaste. Overall this is a very solid beer and a nice change from overly bitter IPAs.

Pours a murky dark reddish-brown with a foamy dark khaki head that settles to a partial film on top of the beer. A foamy lattice of lace coats the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, rye, grape juice, and grape jelly aromas. Taste is much the same with rye, earth, pine needle, and grape juice flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of rye and hop bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a good beer that has a nice rye presence along with interesting grape juice and grape jelly qualities.
