Slightly hazy, reddish brown in color, with a thin off white head. Moderate lacing. The aroma is faint, toasted bread malt and hints of oats. The flavor is very malt forward, and has an earthy sweetness to it. Nutmeg and spice, bread malt and orange honey. So smooth, & the flavor really lingers on the palate. This is a very good beer.

Muddy walnut chocolate brown color; 2 finger popcorn colored head; no lace
Not much on the nose except for light whiffs of toffee and sticky fig. A dash of brown sugar.
Very tasty. Rich and complex malts meet with polite vinous grapes and figs. I can't stress how delicious and floral and fruity this scotch ale is. A sour grape flavor finishes out the tasting.
Medium bodied on the palate, floating, mild carbonation, crisp finish.
Wish I would have grabbed a six pack of this. A beyond stellar Scotch Ale.

I had never tried a Scottish Ale before. I found a bottle in the Portland Oregon airport and decided to give it a go. For some reason I decided to drink it during the Super Bowl. The bottle didn't last the first half. This is a very drinkable beer. I am going from memory, as I drank this one before I joined here. But after tracking it down and seeing the lack of reviews, I wanted to add my favorable vote should anyone encounter this brew. To me, this beer is kind of a cross between a lager and a belgium. More carbonation then a belgium, but some of the richness and a touch of slighty sweet bread/yeast as well. This beer was food friendly. I would pair it with not too spicy Mexican food, or roast chicken or swordfish. This one is not for the IPA fan club. But Belgium fans that would like to drink something that is lighter (and drinkable, as opposed to the usual sipping of a high ABV belgium) but still has some character, this is a good choice. I'll keep an eye out for this one. again. It was a pleasant surprise and an extension of beer styles for me. I expect to to try AleSmith's Wee Heavy tonight. If that happens, I'll make a comparison.

This is an excelent scotish ale!
Poured from a 22oz bottle on 12-07-14 into a pint glass the bottled date was 3/14.
Look - Head was full, just off white but dissipated quickly leaving no trace. Beautiful dark amber slightly hazy.
Smell - Sweet malty, lite toffee, light citrus nose.
Taste - Followed the smell very closly.
Mouth feel - Lighter than expected, probably due to the slight effervefcence of the light carbonation sticky sweet.
Overall - Very drinkable! I will have this again.

Pours a nice dark red color with loads of head.
Smell is of subtle scotch yeast and caramel.
Taste is slightly bitter for a scotch, and sweet too, with a nice array of caramel and toffee notes to round out the yeastiness
Feel is average.
Overall not alot going on, but its clean and taste like a scotch ale. Decent.

Solid Scotch Ale. Very malty and slightly sweet. Very smooth and drinkable. Color is light brown to dark amber (hard to decide which!) with a slightly cloudy appearance. My pint was poured from a growler filled from a fairly full keg so it is probably a fairly good representation of the beer as the makers intended.
I am a BIG IPA fan but I am trying to expand my beer horizons a bit not an every day beer, but definitely on the list to drink again.
