Draft at loyal legion. Starts out in the zone, murky brown with a nice sugary aroma. Aroma is right there too, sugary sweet. Taste offers a hint of the barrels, some warmth and booziness , possibly filling in for a low ABV on the base. Solid, but lacks the all around fullness of it's Belgian brothers.

Occidental's Barrel Aged Belgian Quad was a real treat to enjoy. It's deep dark brown appearance was accented by rich ruby red highlights and a foamy khaki head. Dark Candi sugar, fig, and oak set the stage for the aroma and flavor before giving in to a tart dark cherry like finish. It is smooth and rich, and has a wonderful but mild oaky dry finish with just that hint of tart funk. The alcohol is barely noticeable but for a light warmth. This was a true treat. A barrel aged beer without the bourbon, gin, rum, Brandy, etc. influence seems hard to come by this days, but fits this bill very appropriately. It made me think I was drinking an old world style masterpiece. Cheers!
