Canned 13 Sept , from New Seasons.

A clear orange with a dense white head with excellent retention and lacing this looks good. The nose is soft, citrus heavy with orange and a prominent sweetness, doughy and honey like with light toast and biscuit notes. The fresh hops add an earthy depth to the hop character.
The palate opens mildly bitter, moderately sweet and with a very noticeable fresh hop character. It's not wholly integrated, though, and the citrus notes are juicier then ideal, and less oily/ rind like than I like. The fresh hops are earthy, deep and wonderful, though don't entirely work with the base pils IMO. Drying, mildly sweet on the finish, this beer is creamy on the palate and quite delicious.

Same beautiful look as every variation of Occidental's classic Pilsner. Bright polished brass, perfect clarity and a bone white foam, yet this time with a little less retention and lacing.

The aroma has a melon like sweetness to it with a mild cat pissiness over a lightly toasted bread.

I'm oddly reminded of English breakfast tea, or even Earl Grey. Bergamot might be more specific, but I'm no tea expert. Lighter tines of melon, grass, and again, bread, keep things simple and delicious.

Clean crisp feel, slightly on the sweeter side, but does have a touch of earthy bitterness. Easy to drink, as expected.

Pound for pound, this version gets knocked out first round against the initial Fresh Hop Pilsner that the fine folks at Occidental put out this year. Still, no complaints. Solid brew and very unique.

Cheers
