Review 1488
I have consumed a few beers of this style. The beer is 40 degrees and served in a pint glass. The pour of the beer created a massive three-fingered head with good retention. The bright white foamy and creamy head left some lacing on the glass as it dissipated. The color of the beer is SRM 2, pale straw with a hint of a golden hue. Mirco carbonation bubbles dance lazily within the clear liquid. This is a beautiful beer.
Initial aromas in the beer are crackers, a hint of floral, and a whiff of cut grass. Nosing further, I do not get much, I can detect a form of hops and lightly toasted malts. I am having a difficult time discerning the hops.
The flavors in the beer are cracker, lightly toasted malts, a touch of herbal, a smidge of pine, a note of phenols (kinda like band-aids but not), a subtle malty sweetness, and a scent of floral. The flavors are particularly muted.
The mouthfeel of the beer is carbonated, clean, crisp.
The body of the beer is medium-minus, medium carbonation, and a light finish.
This beer is awesome. The beer nails the style well. There is that odd phenol/pharmaceutical note that is kind of off-putting but not. This will be another summer go-to beer.

i love these guys, so authentic and good. their lagers tend to slay, and this one certainly does too. a bit lighter in color than other takes on the style i have known, but there is some leeway for that in this one i reckon. super pale blonde colored with frantic carbonation leading to a beautiful airy white head, fresh and alive looking, really nice. it smells like a mellow pils type, no sign of this lager yeast being strained by warmer fermentation, and the malt is fresh, light, classically european, and right on for this, without any contribution on the malt side from anything richer, definitely one of the lighter takes on a steam beer i have seen. it honestly doesnt smell like a ton though, as i cut into this one absolutely ice cold and drink through it pretty quickly, its so good. delicate cereal grain very much cut from the pils cloth in the flavor, unique fresh but familiar in taste. the beer is very crisp, seems like a patient lager process but i know this is made different, it just dries out beautifully and while there maybe is a soft dried fruitiness to the yeast, its awfully subtle and restrained. great mineral snappiness to the finish, mild noble type hop spiciness with faint lemon, and ultimate refreshment with the fast finish and high carbonation. i could drink 20 of these, and wish i had them in the fridge so i could do exactly that, i love how clean and refined it is, how mildly unique it is, but how it remains classic. could pass as a kolsch or a pils to most palates i imagine, each sip just sets me off. i adore these guys and look forward to each of their beers, they have to keep this one in the regular lineup, its fire!

16oz can from Hops & Bottles. Bright clear golden, light foamy head. Clean, grainy, bready aroma. Taste is biscuity malts, crackers. Simple, well crafted. Tasty.

Interesting one: a steam beer that is NOT an Anchor Steam knockoff. If you expected that it would be (as I did, since almost all "steam" beers are, the color will set you straight: it's straw, not copper or anything like it! The little blurb on the label explains they just made a lager (for a winter lager festival) with their regular lager yeast but at warmer temperatures. And they ended up with those big round flavors we know from Anchor Steam, but in a different beer with different malt, yeast, hops and color characteristics. Check it out.

Can from Uptown Market.
A clear light yellow with a dense, white head with good retention and lacing. The nose is soft, bready, doughy, very Helles like with light honey, faint hops. Lovely light fruity notes. The palate opens with a soft, light yet full honey and cotton candy note. Light dough, light lemon. Rather Helles like with light soft straw and dough with the warm fermentation lending a soft fruity note and a dry finish. A little watery with brisk carbonation. Quite excellent.
