This is the classic German-style sour wheat beer. Our gose is kettle-soured for tartness balanced with the traditional addition of salt adding a subtle layer of complexity.

This not the same as the collaboration version produced in 2015.

16oz can from Hops & Bottles. Pale golden pour, fizzy white head, fine carbonation. Mildly tart aroma, lemony. Taste is citrusy, sweet, tangy and the salt. Salt and lemon peel makes for a nice feel and flavor.

Can from Belmont Station.

A crystal clear orange with a rapidly receding white head, this looks solid. The nose is classic, with straw, wheat, raw grain and a noticeable coriander note that is really nice. A mild lactic twang is present. The palate opens mildly sweet with floral honey, doughy bread before being considerably brightened by the lactic bite, a truly refreshing note on this hot day. This is followed by a soft coriander note and a gentle salt character that makes this clean and refreshing. Drying, mildly sweet on the finish with crisp carbonation. Delicious.

Look: An almost clear light yellow and my pour initiates a white head to froth up and noisily recede, leaving spotty lacing behind
Aroma: Coriander, wheat malt, lacto tartness, light citrus, and wafts of salt
Taste: Opens up with a light fruity note that is hard to pinpoint – almost citrus-like – before coriander and wheat crash down the door. Fruit and herbal notes go back and forth atop the wheat base until salt comes in to close it out
Mouthfeel: Light but full, clean, medium-high carbonation, and tart and crisp on the finish
Overall: I dig it. I love a good Gose and this not only fits the bill for that but isn’t fruited, which I personally prefer in the style. Good wheat presence, tartness, just enough salt to differentiate from a kettle sour, and even a pseudo-citrusy note that adds to the mix. Tasty and recommended
