Occidental Dunkelweizen is a darker cousin to our classic Bavarian-style Hefeweizen. It exhibits a deeper color and richer malt flavor than our Hefeweizen while sharing the same banana and clove flavors. Lightly hopped with imported Hallertauer.

Amber colored with minimal head, scant lacing. Very subtle scent, with some yeasty notes. Light toasted malt flavor; very palatable. Lightly carbonated. Overall, quite tasty.

Out of a growler obtained from Portland growler guys.
The beer pours a brownish amber color with good head retention and lacing. The is attractive, as I get clove, apple, a hint of chocolate and considerable spice. The flavor profile replicates the nose in this well crafted beer, and I have to say this might be the best domestic version of a dunkelweizen I've ever tasted. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, and this beer certainly delivers plenty of flavor. Alcohol is very well integrated into the flavor, and drinkability is very good.
Impressive.

Big sudsy dusty white head on the pour, prune body, with a thick film of yeast left on the glass. Good fruity nose with loads of spice including monster clove, bananas, sweet malt, and white pepper. Good beer although a little gummy on the finish. Would have preferred a more restrained sweetness as well.
