Pronounced like "überweizen", and served right at the source itself in a pint glass. On to the beer:
There's little head or retention on top of this toasted yellow colored beer. Unlike expectations, this offering is not cloudy nor even hazy. It looks more like an American wheat than a German hefe. But the aroma tries to go in the direction of the German style, offering mild amounts of banana, clove, and vague spice.
The first impression of the beer's flavor seems like a mix of the American and German styles. However, further drinking tells me that OOBerweizen leans towards the American style. There is some light bubblegum, "plain" malted wheat, and even a very subtle vegetal note. The body is light and features moderate carbonation and good crispness.
Not a terrible offering, however not one I would go banana's (get it?) over.
