Tried a sample of this at the brewery tasting room today (the only place this or any other BiPlane beers are available).
Very dark brown in color, almost black. When held up to the light, it takes on a more conventionally brown hue.
Very "clovey" in the nose. If I were blindfolded, I might think this was a standard Hefe.
Taste wise, this starts out like a Hefe, with cloves, a very little bit of coriander, and an earthy, frainy flavor. About mid-way through, the darker malts kick inand give the beer a somwhat molassesey taste that lasts through the fadeout.
Medium bodied, with a slightly coating mouthfeel.
An interesting and creative take on the usual summer wheat beer so many breweries make this time of year. I could see myself having several of these.
