Our first take on this most popular of modern beer styles. With a clean malt bill this beer is pale colour with classic crisp backbone, while a concoction of Germany’s finest Magnum, Saphir Whole Leaf and Hallertau hops deliver a refined bitterness and characteristic herbal hit. True to style we used soft water, a Bavarian yeast and extended cold maturation to deliver the style’s distinctive subtle depth. A lightness of body and spritzy carbonation will make the beer dance on your palate and a refreshingly crisp finish will keep you coming back for more … PROST!

330 ml can, as Magic Rock Dancing Bear German Lager. ABV is 4.5%. From Bris Ølutsalg, Jørpeland. Moderately hazy golden colour, moderate white head. Sweetish aroma of pilsener malt and floral and herbal German hops, hints of honey and newmown grass. The flavour is slightly sweet, with herbal hops and a fairly bitter finish.

look: hazy golden to amber beer, lots of bubbles rising through the glass, one finger frothy white head with decent retention and lots of lacing.
smell: has a champagne like sweetness to it, decent bit of bready biscuity malt, smells some what grassy, some caramel, honey, some lemon zest there.
taste: really malty, lots of those bready biscuity malts, very earthy and grassy, a certain floral character to it too, mild sweetness, orange, a touch of hop bitterness on the finish and a touch of spice.
feel: light bodied, medium carbonation, moderately crisp and refreshing.
overall: the first of five magic rock beers i have purchased, and an intriguing start, not a great beer, but not bad, and quite good for the style.

330ml can.
L: Golden yellow with a light haze and many streams of bubbles. Thick, creamy, long-lasting, white head.
S: Fresh & yeasty. Some floral as it warms.
T: Zesty noble hops. Clean & super smooth with a refreshingly dry finish.
F: Medium body, soft carbonation and a rich, sticky mouthfeel.
O: Excellent, German-style refreshment from West Yorkshire. Is it a 100% conformist German pilsner? Maybe not. But it knocks every mass-produced Euro lager into a gigantic cocked hat. At 4.5%, could drink a lot of this on draught. Extra points for that.

Gold, honey nose, choux pastry dough and cut hay, bitter end, round.

Doesn’t smell pils, but cuts hard at the end. Malts are there, though - soft body. Floral as it opens. Nice work.
