Enjoyed from the big bottle in a Chimay snifter, this fine red IPA pours a reddish copper with a very nice head of dissipating foam that settles to a layer of clumping foam, a thick ring, and decent lacing. Nose of toasted malts, light citrus fruits, and subtle leafy hops. Flavors surpass the nose with sweet toasted malts and light brown sugar flavors to the front and middle that fade to a subtly tart citrus and bittering hops note on the rear. Excellent without being overly powerful on the hops for a solid IPA with a moderately spicy sweet aftertaste. An excellent brew with a moderately carbonated mouth feel that finishes brisk and lightly syrupy. A first for me from this brewery and an excellent purchase. France is overlooked for good ales...this is exceptional!

Cheers

Thanks to GRG1313 for sharing this one at his tasting.

Pours a hazy honey orange with a foamy tan head that settles to a film on top of the beer. Small patches of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, grain, citrus fruit, and citrus zest aromas. Taste is much the same with malt, honey, and fruit flavors on the finish. There is a very mild amount of hop bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp and medium bodied mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer that is fairly subtle for an IPA in my opinion.

Unfiltered copper-colored with strong malt character. Enjoyable to drink. This beer had many of the qualities of a first-rate farmhouse ale. The relatively high ABV (nearly 8%) produced a pleasant warming sensation in the belly while the hop character was subdued. Overall, I would rate this one very high and would definatley drink again.

Beer bottle (33 cl.) purchased from Bières & Chopes, and tasted in 2013.

Appearance : red amber color, with white small foam head.
Smell : malty and heavy hoppy aromas.
Taste & mouthfeel : fruity and yeasty flavors, with a long bitter finish.
Drinkability : a good beer in the style IPA
