I have tried many barleywines. This seems to have the quintessential nature of the genre. It balances sweetness, bitterness, depth, and mouthfeel unlike any other, even my beloved Ol‘ Backus Barleywine from Free State Brewing.

On tap at Brew Bank Topeka. Poured a clear, dark amber color with a small, tan head of bubbly foam. It left sudsy trails of lace on the glass. It smelled malty, roasty and boozy with some toffee notes. Sweet toffee, caramel with roasty notes and a mild bitterness.
