330ml bottle poured into half pint. Bottled Aug 2013.

L - Black with thick creamy tan head that is resilient

S - chocolate over coffee in this stout, mixed with a yeast and cereal malt odour.

T - Sweetish mocha beginnings, with a piercing bitter choc finish. Dark fruits (dates) and roasted malts in the background all the way through.

F - over carbonated, which really ruins the brew. Slightly watery, not as creamy as other oatmeal stouts, reasonably dry finish.

O - decent taste, but the mouthfeel really ruins this beer. Waaaaay over carbonated (esp for a stout), and a tad too watery. Sad, as other brews from Hopdog are usually top notch.

Pours black with a gigantic light tan head.
Nose shows liquorice, roasted malt and a metallic/mineral like note. Not overly complex.
A mixture of roasted malt and an acidic tang as flavours with a hit of coffee in the finish.
Carbonation is too high.

After being advised to dump my bottles of this by the brewer, I finally got to taste it on tap at the brewery.

Black with a small amount of translucence. Creamy but small, tan head. Quite good.

Roasty, 70% cocoa with plenty of coffee. Some earthy notes. Mild liquorice. A real stout.

Big roast with plenty of earthy, chalky character. Plenty of bitter cocoa. Not much hop. Very good.

Thick and creamy from the use of plenty of oats. Good.

A very enjoyable interpretation of a classic style. The intensity of this is good and a credit to Tim's uncompromising nature.

Pours a dark as kola hue which leaves behind a frothy three finger moon faced head and sporadic lacing, the smell is dark malts, oats, dark berries and chocolate, the mouthfeel is just under medium bodied and a touch of velvety with tastes of dark chocolate, dark berries,a touch of milky coffee, oatmeal and finished with a dark fruitiness and overall its not bad with the oatmeal giving the mouthfeel a smooth finish but i find it a little bit light but its rather easy to drink cheers.

Pours a dark black colour (is there any other type of black, I ask myself), tinge of brown up to teh light. Head is beige, fairly dense and creamy with nice lace left behind. Very nice.

Smell is quite smokey and dark. Sweet dark chocolate aroma with a touch of burnt wood and some musty notes. Slightly sour, yeah, stouty. Not bad.

Taste is quite dark, and it builds on the initial darkness, getting more bitter and slightly sour with roasty notes and a touch of espresso. Very chocolatey early-mid and hints of pepper and berries on the back. Hint of capsicum on there, yeah, sweet, spicy and bitter in good, but not perfect, balance. Pretty decent.

Bit sizzly, carbonation is all right. Good body to it.

Bit sour overall, but not bad.
