On-tap, drawn from a slim keg on a CO2 line at a summer party.

A – Muddy apple cider. Think apple sauce. The yeast must have gotten kicked up in transport... although I’m shocked that much yeast was transferred to the keg to begin with. White head holds up well with a nice lace.

S – Soft lemon, pine, and wheat.

T – Citrus opens the profile with lemony and woody hops layer over soft wheat. A moment later the wheat steals the show, soft and delicious, for the rest of the profile.

M – Medium body. The carbonation is a shade light, but that’s more on the host’s CO2 line than the brewery.

Poured a deep hazy amber hue with a one finger froathy white head. There was good retention and lacing.

The smell featured a seriously estery yeast emitting aromas of banana and clove. Coupled with the heavy malts and dark fruits, the aroma is reminiscent of dark banana bread.

The taste consisted of a very spicy wheat malt, some robust yeast esters and a sweet dark fruit. a slight nutrasweet type sweetness crept in toward the finish.

The mouthfeel was very chewy and full. Essentially in line with the style.

Overall a complex and flavorful rendition of the style. Aventinus its not, but then again what is.

Unfiltered, so its appearance was cloudy brown with a small head and pleasant smell.

I really enjoyed the smokey taste partnered with the weisse. I usually favor the dunkels and this one did not disappoint. I'll definitely try to have this again while it's in rotation.

Poured very cloudy brown with a small tan head. My lunchmate asked if it was like a guiness. "No" I replied.

Sweet fruit in the aroma leads to a medium to thin mouthful. Taste is hints of chocolate and smoke malt, with a large dose of sweet fruit, banana is prevalent. Big yeast prescence. Long lasting smoke malt finish. Without sounding like a Bud commercial, this had a very bold flavor.

All in all an enjoyable brew, I wish the banana flavor was a little less dominant.
