On tap at the brewpub. Pours a hazy light brown with a small head. Aroma of sweet malt. Flavor is quite sweet with some fruity notes and candi sugar. Ok to drink but not very exciting. I was surprised to find out that this was an Abbey Dubbel because I didn't detect any yeasty notes nor any other flavors you typically get in dubbels. An ok beer.

My wife went to the Black Forest with some friends after work and brought me a home a growler of this Klosterbrau. I'm assuming it's their take on a German Abbey Dubbel.
Their take is very good.
This caramel brew pours smooth with only a hint of a head (maybe because it is a growler and not tap?) nice lacing. the aroma is also very caramel - sweet and grainy.
In fact it really might be better called Black Forest Caramel classic or something, because the taste is also smooth and slightly sweet like drinking a Werther's Original.
The mouthfeel is the slight disappointment since it smells and tastes like it should be creamy, but isn't. It's crisp and smooth but not "creamy"
All in all a delightful production from the tanks of the Black Forest Brew House.
