Pours a slightly hazy golden straw color with a wispy white head that settles into a light cap.
The aroma is sweet and fruity. Notes of cereal, white grapes, and light metal make up the aroma profile. Perhaps some hints of a grassy hop.
The taste is of light malt, cracker like, with a grassy/pepper hop presence. Light cereal sweetness and a white grape flavor. Rather simple but refreshing.
The feel is light, dry, and crisp with tingly carbonation. Nice grassy bitterness in the finish gives the beer good balance.
A decent Kolsch. A bit light but the hop profile seems right.

Reviewed on 8/24/09. On tap at the brewpub. Pours a cloudy dirty yellow with a thick white head. Aroma of sweat wheaty/grainy malt with light fruits. Flavor of sweet malt and some bitterness in the finish. This is fairly bland, but it is easy drinking. Similar to the pilsener, but it's not as light and crisp. Good kolsch.

Growler filled from the tap at Black Forest Brew Haus served in a kölsch glass.
The beer is a hazy golden color with a fluffy white head that left a coating of lace on the glass.
The smell is heavy on the noble hops.
The taste is on the bitter side as the noble hops are pretty dominant.
Medium bodied with crisp carbonation.
Easy to drink.

Poured a dark straw hue with a one finger foamy white head. There was decent retention and good sticky lacing.
The smell featured a light grain with some diacytl.
The taste consisted of a balanced grainy malt and noble spicy hop. A touch of diacytl detracted from the score.
The mouthfeel was of average fullness and slightly creamy.
Overall a decent kolsch. Some off flavors though.

On-Tap
Mug
A: Yellow-orange with a thin, 2 finger head that disappeared fairly quickly.
S: Nice hop aromas with some hints of fruit.
T: Not as tasty as the smell would lead you to believe; mild hop taste with a very subtle fruity aftertaste.
M: Probably was served a little too warm but it was well carbonated.
D: This should not be thought of as a traditional summer ale; it is definitely worth trying and it is definitely a sessionable beer.
