Back out of retirement. Served on February 25th
A. Pours a murky chocolate brown color with a small wispy khaki colored head.
S. the aroma is of brown bread. Light hints of metal and smoke. Not too much going on.
T. The taste is big on smoke. The malt is bready and has a lemon tea flavor. I don't get too much from the spruce/tree that was used to bitter the beer. Perhaps a touch of an herbal note. Solid rauchbier though.
F. The feel is light with prickly carbonation. Drinks easy and crisp.
O. Good rauchbier but don't get too much of the tree that was added to the boil. Served a bit too cold.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours a dark clear brown with a small white head. Aroma of light smoke and some sweet malt. Flavor is more smoky and I also get some peat moss. If not for the odd peat moss notes and general spices, I think I really would have liked this one a lot.

Poured a deep amber hue with a one finger foamy white head. There was decent retention and lacing.
The smell featured a smoky roasted grain with some pine essences from from the Douglas Fir Christmas Tree branches used in the smoking process.
The taste consisted of a solid burnt grain, a light smokiness and an uncomfortable astringency.
The mouthfeel was average for the style but a bit too astringent.
Overall a relatively tasty smoked beer. Unique.
