Poured a deep deep amber hue with a half finger foamy white head. There was good retention and lacing.
The smell featured a heavy sweet spicy malt and a piney hop.
The taste consisted of a front loaded German malt spice, a touch of cocoa and a juicy resinous hop.
The mouthfeel was toward the lighter side of the style.
Overall a very nice well balanced barleywine.

Fresh filled growler from Black Forest Brew Haus served in a snifter.
L - reddish-brown color with a small beige head that goes away after a while.
S - piney hops and plums, very nice aroma.
T - upfront flavors of dark fruits without too much sweetness and then a blast of bitter hops kicks in and finishes things off.
F - medium bodied with a crisp, dry feel.
D - easy drinking and very tasty.
Final Note: This is a very good American Barleywine.
If there was wider distribution of this brew it would easily be in the top 10 for the style.
