Draught served in a tulip.

Body is dark, dark brown. Head a medium tan that left minimal lacing.

Aroma - Coconut, mango with a hint of cocoa.

Taste - Coconut, mango. I hope you like mango.

Mouthfeel - Medium body, with a sweetness that coats the tongue and sticks. Definite alcohol presence.

Overall - A good, solid beer. I could not associate the name to anything but the color of black. Remind me to not order mango beer.

Whatever Odell was trying to do with this beer probably happened. It's a taste journey Magellan would've envied. The kind of beer that really circumnavigates your palate.

On tap at petrol station.

Tan head. Color is a deep brown nearing black.

Flavor profile: tropical tsunami in my mouth. Mangoes, coconuts, oranges, clementines, and other fruits. Chocolate and some juicy hops. A light amount of roasted malts.

Mouthfeel: a light bitterness with some roastedness. Medium bodied. Ends pretty clean.

Overall, I really liked this beer. It was fricking tropical. Very drinkable and still hoppy.

Healthy 14oz pour at PreFunk .. Pours a bit muddy... very dark brown/black... nice off white head... decent lacing.

Nose is odd... oak planks dominate everything and leave behind dusty cocoa and little else.

Roasted malt is dry and a bit astringent up front.. the oak is heavy and allows only the imagination... malts really don't mesh that well IMO.. toward the finish some dry cocoa comes back with hints of vanilla from the oak.

Heavier body and definitely a sipper... An interesting brew, but a short pour would have been plenty.. I shared my big-boy pour with COOPMatt.

I see what the brewers were doing here... I respect it, but it just never gels for me.. That said, it is okay and everybody around me loves it.

On tap at the 2014 Firestone Walker Invitational Beer Fest held at the Paso Robles Event Center in Paso Robles, CA.

Pours an opaque super dark brown with a foamy khaki head that settles to wisps of film on top of the beer. Small streaks of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of dark roasted malt, cocoa, citrus zest, bourbon, and wood aromas. Taste is much the same with cocoa, citrus zest, and bourbon flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of hop and wood bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a very good beer with a tasty mix of cocoa, citrus, and barrel aged qualities.
